Not Lovin’ It: Snake Snack Leads to Shutdown at Newhaven McDonald’s

McDonald’s in Newhaven had to close its doors temporarily for an emergency deep clean. The cause? A customer decided it was a good idea to bring live insects into the establishment to feed a pet snake on the evening of March 8.

A McDonald’s spokesperson addressed the situation, stating, “On Friday evening, we were made aware that a customer had entered our Newhaven restaurant with live insects to feed a pet snake. As soon as we were made aware, we closed the restaurant and asked the customer to leave.”

The fast-food chain took immediate action to ensure the restaurant’s cleanliness and safety, reassuring the public that the health and safety of their customers and staff are of utmost priority. “We reopened later in the evening having carried out a thorough clean of the restaurant. Pest control experts have been called to the restaurant today to carry out precautionary checks,” the spokesperson added.
