PD Hox tracks down fleeing burglar in Lewes break-in

Within an hour of a reported break-in, a police canine aided officers in apprehending two suspected burglars and promptly restoring a cache of stolen goods to their rightful owner.

In the early hours of August 31st, at 3:29 am, a vigilant local business owner dialed 999 to report a break-in attempt at his establishment on Station Road, Lewes.

Responding, officers arrived at the scene by 3:33 am, swiftly apprehending the first suspect, a 14-year-old girl, at 3:35 am as she attempted to exit the premises.

The second suspect, a 16-year-old boy, managed to elude the immediate area, but was soon tracked down by PD Hox, the police dog, and taken into custody at 4:19 am.

Every stolen item was successfully recovered and promptly returned to its rightful place in the shop.

Both suspects have since been released on bail, under the condition that they refrain from associating with each other or revisiting the location. They are also required to engage with the youth offending teams as part of their bail conditions.
