Seaford Beach: Newhaven Coastguard Rescues Duo Caught in Offshore Winds

The coastguard responded to multiple distress calls reporting a dinghy carrying two individuals being swept away from Seaford beach by powerful offshore winds.

Prompt action by the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter, coincidentally in the vicinity for training, swiftly located the vessel. Newhaven Lifeboat acted promptly, reaching the stranded dinghy and safely bringing the occupants back to shore and handing them over to Newhaven Coastguard.

The occupants, who had endured the chilling winds, received immediate medical attention for exposure and were provided with essential safety advice. Today’s robust offshore wind conditions propelled the lightweight dinghy a significant distance from the coastline, heightening the urgency of the rescue mission.

As a reminder, in coastal emergencies, it is crucial to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard
