Tony King Confesses to Eastbourne Murder of Sabrina Cooper

Tony King, a 60-year-old resident of Cornfield Terrace, Eastbourne, has pleaded guilty to the murder of 68-year-old Sabrina Cooper. The plea was entered during a hearing at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday (May 18). The charges stem from an incident that occurred just before Christmas last year.

Emergency services were summoned to Sabrina Cooper’s residence on Connaught Road, Eastbourne, at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, December 18. Initially believed to be a fall down the stairs, it was soon discovered that Sabrina had sustained five stab wounds to her torso, leading to her tragic demise.

Investigators reviewing Sabrina’s phone discovered recent communication with Tony King, an acquaintance of hers. In the early hours of the following morning, King was apprehended at his home on suspicion of her murder. Crime scene experts found blood-stained clothing in the flat’s lounge and inside a washing machine.

During questioning, King openly confessed to the murder to officers from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team. He provided additional details that ultimately led to the recovery of a single-edged kitchen knife, subsequently identified as the murder weapon.

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell, the senior investigating officer, expressed condolences to Sabrina’s grieving family and friends. He stated, “Our thoughts are with Sabrina’s family and friends who were shocked at this senseless and apparently motiveless murder.” Campbell also acknowledged the diligent work of his colleagues, highlighting their prompt arrest and commitment to concluding the investigation.

King had previously pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in a public place during an earlier court hearing. His sentencing is scheduled for June 23.
