Brighton lifeboat volunteers were carrying out a training exercise on Saturday morning when the coastguard requested them launch immediacy to person reported face down in the water by the Brighton Palace Pier.
The lifeboat was on scene in minutes located the casualty and brought them back to the Marina where he was handed over to awaiting crews from SECAmb.
Later in the day the Lifeboat was launched again at the request of HM coastguard to what looked like a semi-submerged vessel 100m east of Brighton Marina’s east arm.
On inspection, it seemed to be part of the outflow pipe that had risen to the surface. This was reported to authorities adn the Lifeboat was stood down.
