Emergency services mobilised to Person in the Seea near Bognor

Littlehampton Lifeboat, 175 Coastguard Helicopter, Local Coastguard , Police and Ambulance all tasked to an incident on Bognor beach near Marine Park gardens at 7:17pm on the 23rd of May 2022.

Members of the public had raised concerns for a person who was seen in the sea between Aldwick and Bognor Regis. Littlehampton Coastguard, Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team, Littlehampton RNLI Lifeboat Station, Sussex Police, Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175 and the Ambulance service all responded to the call.

The first Coastguard officers on scene met with Police units who had spotted the person. Keeping the male visual Coastguards were able to quickly talk the Lifeboat onto him when it arrived on scene, with the Coastguard Helicopter standing by.

Despite wanting to continue swimming, given the initial concern the lifeboat crew convinced him to get onboard the lifeboat. He was landed back to shore to awaiting Coastguards and passed over to the ambulance service to be checked over.
