A team of Seaford Dads raising money for charity has rowed across the Atlantic in an amazing 48 days

Ocean_dadventure has crossed the finish line in a time of 49 days, 15 hours, and 12 minutes! On Monday 30th January, at 23:19 local Antigua time, Matt Garman, Neil Furminger & Steven Woolley completed The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge – The World’s Toughest Row!

They have raised over €100,000 for their charities, Prostate Cancer UK & WOLO Foundation

In the late hours of the evening, this amazing team reached the end of their adventure. As they raised celebratory flares high, the cheers of their friends and family watching them from the viewing fort could be heard across Nelson’s Dockyard! There were wobbly legs as they took their very first steps onto dry land and rushed to greet their loved ones. Talking on how to finish this monumental challenge, Neil said “Lifting that flare today was just unbelievable. That was three years of planning and 42 days, 25 hours, and 12 minutes of rowing. It was just the most unbelievable feeling.”

CREDIT ATLANTIC CAMPAIGNS Ocean Dadventure have crossed the finish line in a time of 49 days, 15 hours and 12 minutes! On Monday 30th January, at 23:19 local Antigua time, Matt Garman, Neil Furminger & Steven Woolley completed The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge – The World’s Toughest Row!

This trio are all fathers and wanted to show that life can begin at 40 (or even 50) – and did they do that! All three have a background in taking on endurance challenges but they saw this crossing as the ultimate test. Mid-way through their row they faced a sleepless 72 hours battling with exceptionally bad weather over the Christmas period, even facing waves huge enough to cause zero gravity from being thrown around the cabin. Their determination was unstoppable. They pushed hard to not only get to Antigua but also in making the decision to enjoy it and make the most of their adventure along the way. What an inspirational team!

They are raising funds for the WOLO Foundation in Sussex and Prostate Cancer UK. You can read more about their ‘Dad Ventures’ and donate at https://www.oceandadventure.com/
