Early morning call out for Shoreham Coastguard, Newhaven Coastguard and Brighton Lifeboat

05:10 Shoreham coastguard Team paged to report of person in water off the Western arm of Brighton marina, along with Newhaven CG and Brighton Lifeboat Station – RNLI lifeboat.

RNLI crew pulled casualty from water and took them to the boathouse for assessment.

CG officers established that the casualty had tripped over wire fencing on the harbour arm in poor light, and not having torch/headlight for illumination.

Always make sure that you have the correct equipment when fishing at night on harbour walls or shoreline.

If you see anyone in trouble along the Coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard
