The Road Policing Unit (RPU) stopped a motorcycle in Hastings on its way to Plumpton, lewes from Kent during the heavy bout of rain recently.
Police were shocked to find one of the tyres on the bike was bald.
After speaking with the rider and explaining the dangers of a bald tyre especially when it is raining, they was issued with a prohibition notice which prevents the bike being ridden in its current condition.
The bike had to be recovered at the scene, repaired and sent for a full MOT test before the prohibition notice can be removed.
The rider was also issued with a traffic offence report for a defective tyre less than 1mm of tread, resulting in a possible £100 fine and three points on his licence.
