Police appeal following report of a rape in Eastbourne

Detectives are investigating a report of a rape near Melbourne Road, Eastbourne, which is suspected to have taken place around 12.10am on Tuesday, September 27.

Anyone who has who have CCTV or doorbell footage from the area is asked to report it to detectives. The victim is being supported by specially trained officers while the investigation progresses.

As part of the investigation, detectives are keen to speak with a man who could have information which could help them with their enquiries.

The man is described as Eastern European, thought to be in his early-to-mid-twenties, around 5’6” tall and was wearing a grey tracksuit and grey bodywarmer.

PC Lisa Hampson said: “While this is an active investigation we believe that this is an isolated incident. We understand the impact this may have on the local community which is why there will be an increase in high visibility patrols in the area to provide reassurance to local residents.”

Anyone with information or video footage which could help detectives with their investigation is asked to report it to police online or call 101 quoting serial number 33 of 27/09.
