West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is still in attendance at Bolnore Farm Lane near Haywards Heath. This comes after last night (5th November) at 7.08pm emergency services received a call regarding the fire in a former care home building. This incident lead to the deployment of 10 fire appliances and around 50 firefighters to fight the blaze alongside support officers.
At this time firefighters still remain at the scene and have stated on social media they expect to be in place until tomorrow morning. The structure still has “Hotspots” remaining and “accessing the building is challenging due to danger of collapsing structure.”
A local resident told Sussex.News: “The site got planning about 2 years ago for a retirement complex and it was due for salvage and demolition in the new year. Been loads of teens breaking in over last few weeks and police been here before.” The resident further alleged that “Some evidence of drug taking in the rooms and they smashed up the place.”
