Crawley Man Sentenced for Knife Possession in Worthing

Theo Wolfe-England has been convicted for carrying a knife in Worthing. On July 18, 2023, a PCSO observed Wolfe-England leaving a store, suspecting him of theft. Responding officers conducted a stop and search on Wolfe-England, 23, from Langley Lane, Crawley, under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act Section 1.

During the search, Wolfe-England was found with a knife, leading to his arrest and charge for the offense. He admitted guilt and received a suspended four-month prison sentence for 12 months, as decided by Crawley Magistrates’ Court on January 26.

Additionally, Wolfe-England was subjected to a rehabilitation activity requirement for up to 25 days, 120 hours of unpaid work, and a deprivation order of his rights. A serious violence reduction order was also imposed, granting police the authority to search him in public places for a year without prior notice.

Furthermore, Wolfe-England was mandated to pay a sum of £239.

Police Sergeant Sam Milsom said: “This is an excellent result and a real credit to our whole team.

“From spotting the offender to securing the charge and result, this shows our teamwork throughout the whole process.

“I’d like to also congratulate Recruit Constable Laura Jackson for securing yet another SVRO, and she becomes the first person in the force to get two applications approved.

“The SVRO is such a powerful tool we can use to target knife crime. If he is found to have a knife or a bladed article again, he can be fined or imprisoned for up to two years, or both.”
