Police were called to the Playing Field by Roderick Avenue in Peacehaven on Thursday afternoon at around 4:15pm to reports of a year 7 School child from Peacehaven Community School had been attacked.

A witness we spoke to said “Three or 4 Boys attacked the boy and sprayed some sort of substance in his face”

The boy was taken to hospital where he was kept in over night and was discharged this afternoon.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said “Police responded to reports of an altercation in Peacehaven on Thursday (November 10, at about 3.15pm.”

“The parties were known to each other and officers are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.”

A Spokesperson for Peacehaven Community School Said in a statement to parents (Full statement attached to bottom of post) ” We take the safeguarding of our young people extremely seriously”

“We are working very closely with the police, community services, as well as
other schools to support our students following this event. We will not only be
addressing the physicality of this incident but also the inappropriate use of
social media. It was a distressing event and made more concerning by the
number of young people who filmed and were passive bystanders.”

A local father Dan Palmer who has Children at the same school has set up a a GoFundMe page said “After hearing yesterday’s horrible news about a young lad being seriously hurt, I thought we could show our love and support by helping raise some funds for the lad to support his recovery. Perhaps a few new computer games or whatever he is into.”

“It’s every parents worse nightmare and we should show that not all within our community are bad and help store some faith back to the young lad. We wish him a full and speedy recovery.”
