Man arrested and police seeking witnesses in chichester assault case

Police are seeking the public’s help in gathering evidence regarding an altercation between a male and female on South Street in Chichester, which took place around 1am on Sunday, 30th April.

A man is alleged to have attacked a woman who was known to him. Two other women reportedly attempted to intervene but were pushed back by the man.

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking to one of the women who spoke with the victim but has not yet identified herself to the police, as she may possess crucial information for the ongoing inquiry.

A 30-year-old man has been apprehended on suspicion of three instances of assault, one instance of using threatening or abusive language likely to provoke harassment, and one instance of obstructing or resisting a police officer in the course of their duties. The suspect has been granted police bail until 1st August while the investigation continues.
