A reckless driver, identified as Paul Rudkin, was caught reaching speeds of 80mph in a 30mph zone in Burgess Hill. Rudkin, behind the wheel of a blue Mini Cooper, evaded police pursuit on Keymer Road. He was sought on a warrant for failing to appear in court on drug driving charges.
The 42-year-old fled at high velocity, engaging in perilous overtaking maneuvers. However, Rudkin lost control after hitting a puddle, leading to his apprehension by officers from the Roads Policing Unit and Tactical Firearms Unit.
Subsequent testing revealed Rudkin’s drug levels were once again more than ten times the legal limit for cocaine.
Rudkin admitted to two counts of drug driving at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on April 10, following a prior sentencing at Lewes Crown Court on January 8, where he received a ten-month prison sentence.
