Brighton and Hove residents were met with disappointment as the popular Kings Road Paddling Pool had to be closed due to significant damage sustained over the weekend. The pool, along with its surrounding fencing, fell victim to the unfortunate incident, prompting immediate action from the local authorities.
Councillor Alan Robins, chair of the Culture, Heritage, Sport, Tourism, and Economic Committee, expressed his frustration over the closure, stating, “It’s incredibly frustrating that we have had to close such a busy and popular place.” The closure comes at an unfortunate time, with the current delightful sunny weather enticing families to seek outdoor water activities.
The council is fully aware of the disappointment this closure may cause, especially among families looking for a refreshing escape during the scorching heat. As a result, they are actively working to expedite the repair process and restore the much-loved paddling pool to its former glory as soon as possible.
While the Kings Road Paddling Pool remains inaccessible, the adjacent playground at Kings Road continues to be open for families to enjoy. Additionally, the council recommends exploring alternative options available within the city, including free paddling pools and water features located at Hove Lagoon and Peter Pan’s Playground, as well as at The Level and Saunders Park.
Brighton and Hove Council is committed to keeping the community informed about the progress of the repairs and the anticipated reopening of the Kings Road Paddling Pool.
