A 34-year-old man, identified as Shane Gibbs, also known by the nickname ‘Blue’ and currently without a permanent residence, faces numerous charges involving offenses against women and children in Sussex.
The charges include raping a woman, child abduction, intentional strangulation, sexual activity with a minor aged 13 to 15, assault, and possession with intent to supply both class A and class B drugs.
The first reported incidents date back to December 28 and involve individuals known to Gibbs.
He is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear at Lewes Crown Court on February 5.
Detective Superintendent Miles Ockwell said: “We have been able to swiftly bring an individual into custody and are not currently looking for any other suspects in relation to these allegations.
“A wide-ranging investigation is ongoing into a number of lines of enquiry as we try to understand the full scale of Gibbs’ alleged offending.
“We are asking anyone who has any information that could assist with our enquiries to contact police immediately, quoting serial 655 of 7/1.”
