The dedicated Volunteer Crew of Eastbourne Lifeboat RNLI sprung into action on Saturday, June 10th at 18:35 hrs. Their immediate response was prompted by a distress call, which reported individuals waving for help from a vessel located just half a mile off Bexhill.
Upon reaching the scene, the crew discovered a six-meter power boat and a Jetski (personal watercraft), both suffering from engine failures. These watercraft had embarked on their journey earlier in the day from Rye.
Given the circumstances and the state of the tide in Rye, a critical decision was made to deploy the renowned All Weather Lifeboat, aptly named ‘Diamond Jubilee.’ This resilient vessel was chosen to tow both distressed craft back to the safety of Sovereign Harbour.
In a display of utmost care, two individuals from the troubled vessel were transferred onto the All Weather Lifeboat to ensure their well-being throughout the operation.
Thanks to the unwavering dedication and expertise of the Eastbourne Lifeboat RNLI Volunteer Crew, this rescue mission successfully concluded, bringing the stranded vessels and their occupants to safety.
