For the second time yesterday (21/04/2024), Hastings Coastguard, alongside ambulance and police services, was mobilised in response to reports of an individual potentially in danger off the cliffs at West Hill. On arrival, the team executed a detailed search operation, covering both the base and summit of the cliffs, in an effort to find anyone in distress.
Despite a comprehensive search, no one was found in any danger, leading the team to conclude the operation. The alert by a concerned citizen, who took the prudent step of calling 999 and requesting the Coastguard upon noticing someone in a precarious situation, was a perfect example of how to act in such scenarios.
