Video: Emergency Services Swiftly Tackle Van Fire on Lewes High Street

Emergency services swiftly responded to a van fire on High Street Friday 12th of May morning, effectively preventing any casualties. The incident occurred at approximately 8:51 am, and within two minutes, firefighters were on the scene to tackle the blaze.

Video footage captured at the location displayed thick smoke billowing from beneath the van’s bonnet, creating a tense situation for onlookers. However, the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service promptly took control of the situation, utilizing a hose and breathing apparatus to bring the fire under control by 9:10 am.

Remarkably, there were no reported casualties resulting from the fire. The fire crews’ prompt action and expertise ensured the safety of all individuals in the vicinity, avoiding potential harm.

To facilitate the firefighting operation and ensure public safety, the junction of High Street and Albion Street was temporarily closed off. This closure allowed for the successful recovery of the van, which had sustained significant damage due to the fire.
