Hastings Coastguard team was tasked by Solent Coastguard together with colleagues from HM Coastguard – Bexhill and HM Coastguard Rye Bay to assist Sussex Police to locate a person that was initially reported as being stuck in vegetation on or near some cliffs in Hastings Country Park
Working closely with the police drone, RNLI Hastings Lifeboat Station inshore lifeboat who carried out a shoreline search, utilising our extensive local knowledge we were able to locate the casualty who had become stuck in a fairly remote and hard to reach part of Hastings Country Park.
Fortunately Hastings Borough Council Park Rangers were nearby and able to help us access to the best possible point for us to effect what was a challenging technical rope rescue.
They were joined by one of the Senior Coastal Operations Officer’s and once set up, a technician was deployed and the casualty safely recovered unharmed to the top of the cliff and passed in to the care of the police.
A great multi-agency response with a very successful outcome
Remember if you see someone in difficult near the coast dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard
