VIDEO: Brighton Christmas Lights 2022

Brighton is now in festive mode after the opening on Friday of the Christmas Market by St peters Church by the Mayor (Sussex News Video and report https://sussex.news/sussex-news/brighton-hove-mayor-opens-brighton-christmas-festival/8623/ )

On Saturday the lights in North Street were turned on along with a visit from the Brighton & Hove Santa Bus which will be out over the coming weeks spreading joy to communities and raising much needed funds for local charities

The event on Saturday was organised by Brilliant Brighton (a not-for-profit organisation) hosted a city centre-wide festive event between with choirs and entertainment throughout Brighton to kick off the celebratory period and get residents and visitors alike in the festive spirit.

The festive lights scheme (which change every five years, due to costs) featuring street art-inspired lights – designed by Brighton street artists, Bintley, Mowgli and Sinna One

There is gap in the Lights around the Clock tower due an issue with the holding bar on the West Street facing side of the clock. Gavin Stewart from Brighton BID said, “This is the central crown of our annual Christmas lighting display and it’s a real shame that we can’t launch the full scheme as hoped. Public safety is of course our paramount objective, and we look forward to rectifying the issue quickly.” They hope to have this rectified by 26th/27th November.

Shelley Welti, Marketing & Events Manager for Brilliant Brighton said: “We’re really excited to get shoppers, and those heading out for meals, coffees and drinks feeling festive with a wonderful afternoon celebrating the start of the season! From the beautiful voices of our local choirs filling the streets, to the launch of our eye-catching window dressing competition, elves popping up across the city centre, Brighton & Hove Buses adding further joy to Preston Street, North Street and Western Road with their wonderful Santa Bus, and of course, the Brilliant Brighton Christmas lights adding further sparkle to proceedings, we really hope it’ll be a lovely way to start the celebrations!”
