7 pumps attend Lancing house fire

A major house fire erupted on Alma Street in Lancing this morning, prompting a swift and coordinated response by emergency services from across Sussex.

In a bid to control the blazing fire, engines from Worthing Fire Station, Steyning Fire Station, Shoreham Fire Station, Henfield Fire Station, Haywards Heath Fire Station, and East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were promptly dispatched to the scene.

It was a concerted effort as the fire teams, coordinating to get the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings.

The emergency services later updated the situation, confirming that the severity of the incident had been reduced. “This incident is now being scaled back with some crews remaining on scene damping down,” the fire service reported.

Despite the scale-back, the area remains active with fire service personnel carrying out final extinguishing operations, assessing the damage, and beginning investigations into the cause of the fire. They urged the public to avoid the area to allow crews to work safely.

It is not yet clear whether there were any injuries as a result of the fire, or what may have sparked the blaze.

Further updates are expected as the incident unfolds and investigations proceed.
