Labour’s Keir Force One Touches Down in Brighton for Key Campaign Stop

Labour Party leader Keir Starmer meets with local leaders to bolster election efforts.

Brighton witnessed a surprise visit on Sunday from Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party. Starmer spent time with Councillor Bella Sankey, the Labour Councillor for Wish Ward and Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, as well as Tom Gray, a founding member of the rock band Gomez and Labour’s candidate for Brighton Pavilion in the 2024 general election.

Councillor Sankey expressed her delight at Starmer’s visit, saying, “It was so nice to welcome Keir Starmer to Brighton Pavilion today in support of Tom Gray. I’ve known Keir for 20 years. He has integrity, is kind, and fiercely smart. He will be a transformative Prime Minister. Let’s get him elected & turn #Brighton red!”

Tom Gray shared his enthusiasm with Sussex News, stating, “It’s incredible for Keir to have taken the time to visit our constituency on only the fourth day of the General Election campaign. A clear sign, were it needed, that Labour believes we can win Brighton Pavilion. Indeed, we must to form the next government. We discussed the importance of Labour’s plan to stop the Tory sewage crisis and clean up our sea. People here desperately want change.”

The group enjoyed a pint at The Station Hotel Brighton, where Starmer also chatted with locals. Reflecting on his visit, he remarked, “One of the best things about going across the country is meeting first-time voters like Bella. Great to be in Brighton today with our candidate, Tom Gray.”
