Shocking Discovery: Pulborough Man Films Own Crimes Against Young Men

Pulborough Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Multiple Rapes and Sexual Assaults

Ian Elliott, a 71-year-old man from North Heath near Pulborough, West Sussex has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for a series of heinous crimes against young men. The sentencing, which took place at Hove Crown Court on Thursday, February 22, follows Elliott’s guilty plea to an array of charges including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and possession of illegal drugs.

Elliott was accused of committing a staggering 92 offences against six victims between 1999 and 2021. His predatory actions were meticulously planned, as he gained the trust of his victims, some as young as 16, and their families, leveraging his position as a respected community member and chairman of the local sports association.

Utilising drugs and alcohol to stupefy his victims, Elliott filmed many of the assaults, a damning trove of evidence that played a crucial role in his conviction despite his attempts to destroy it. His arrest in September 2022 marked the beginning of the end of a harrowing chapter for the victims, who received specialist support during the investigation.

The charges Elliott faced were severe and numerous, including 13 rapes, three attempted rapes, 13 sexual assaults, and 20 counts of voyeurism, reflecting the gravity and depravity of his actions over more than two decades.

The court’s decision to impose an 18-year prison sentence, with an additional five years on licence, alongside an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and lifetime registration as a sex offender, underscores the severity of Elliott’s crimes. HHJ Gold, in passing sentence, remarked on Elliott’s “innate sense of superiority” over his victims and his complete lack of empathy.
