This morning, Sussex rail services experienced significant disruption after a train was reported to have hit a person on the line between Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges. The incident occurred around 5:28 AM, causing emergency services and Network Rail staff to rush to the scene.

According to reports, a train driver alerted authorities after suspecting the train had collided with an obstruction. Emergency response teams arrived swiftly, but despite their efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the location.

The tragic event led to a halt in rail services in the area, with lines being closed to allow for investigation and safety checks. Services resumed just after 8:00 AM; however, passengers were warned to expect disruptions throughout the afternoon. The delays are partly due to the need for repositioning of train crews and trains that were affected by the morning’s events.
