Eastbourne Lifeboat Crew Rescues Stranded Vessel

The crew of the Eastbourne All Weather Lifeboat, aboard ‘Esme Anderson,’ sprang into action following a distress call at 11:38 AM on Saturday, May 4th. The lifeboat was dispatched to assist a vessel that had lost engine power and was adrift near Pevensey Shoal.

Upon arrival, the volunteer Coxswain quickly assessed the situation and made the critical decision to tow the disabled boat and its occupants to the safety of Sovereign Harbour. This timely intervention underscores the vital role of the RNLI in ensuring the safety of maritime activities in the region.

This rescue marks the 49th mission this year for the dedicated volunteers of the Eastbourne lifeboat crew, highlighting their commitment and bravery in safeguarding lives at sea.

Maritime safety experts remind boaters of the importance of carrying proper communication devices, such as a VHF radio, and flares to enable quick response in case of emergencies. These tools are essential for ensuring that help can be summoned promptly, reducing the risks associated with sudden mechanical failures or other issues on the water.
