Fresh cliff falls at Friars’ bay Peacehaven

A reported fresh Clif fall occurred on New Year’s day Morning at Friar’s Bay in Peacehaven, East Sussex. It looks like the overhang has fallen and around 2 meters of the cliff has fallen down onto the rocks below.

Photos captured by local resident Simon Reynolds show the fresh cliff falls a few hundred meters East of the Reverse Waterwall we reported on last week ttps://sussex.news/sussex-news/watch-this-incredible-reverse-waterfall-flowing-backwards-up-a-sussex-cliff/10521/

Simon said “A big chalk fall where the overhang ‘was’. It looks like it happened around 9am this morning as the soil at the bottom hasn’t been taken by the tide. Looks like around 2m has gone judging by the gap at the top”

Another person said “it’s before the ‘waterfall’ def a new fall saw it at 8.30am today”

Another local resident Marika Malka posted a photo on social media of the area back in November. You can see significant falls in that area since.

This is a good reminder to people to keep well back from cliff edges and bases.

In a coastal emergency dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.”
