A man has been charged with committing three robberies in Bognor – two of which involved a knife.

Michael Jones, 28, of Belmont Street, Bognor, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 16 July and has been remanded in custody to await his next appearance on Monday August 15.

A man is reported to have entered the News Box store in Gordon Avenue, just before 9pm on Sunday June 26 and forced staff to empty the till after threatening them at knifepoint. He made off with approximately £600.

Twelve days later, on Friday July 8, a man entered Castle Wines in Felpham Road, walked behind the till and emptied it. Another man, also from Bognor, was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a robbery after allegedly acting as a look out whilst the robbery took place. The 31-year-old has been released under investigation.

A man then went to the Post Office in Summerley Lane on Tuesday July 12, armed with a craft knife and a hammer and demanded cash from the till. Upon leaving the premises he made off on foot.

Anyone with information about any of incidents, should report online or ring 101 quoting serial 1268 of 26/06.
