Worthing Murder Case: Suspect Charged

72-Year-Old Victim Found Deceased, Next of Kin Notified

A murder charge has been filed following the discovery of a deceased individual in Worthing. Responders were summoned to an address on St Botolph’s Road around 6:30 pm on Friday, March 22.

Tragically, the body of a 72-year-old local resident was located, with immediate family notified and receiving support from specialised personnel. Sussex Police have arrested Sukhjit Bains, 46, of Brighton Road, Southgate, Crawley, in connection with the incident.

Bains faced murder charges and appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 25. He has been remanded in custody pending an appearance at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday, March 26.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Amanda Zinyama said: “Our thoughts continue to be with the family at this extremely difficult time.

“Sukhjit Bains has been charged with murder.

“Further witnesses or anyone with information about what happened is asked to come forward to Sussex Police, and quote Operation Orchid.”
