Newhaven Lifeboat had the honor of hosting Richard Bickersteth, the High Sheriff of East Sussex, and his wife Rachel at Newhaven RNLI today. The couple enjoyed a comprehensive visit, including meeting our dedicated volunteers, exploring the station, and attending a pre-launch exercise briefing. They also witnessed the launch of our Severn class lifeboat for a training session focused on local knowledge, berthing techniques, and assessments. The visit concluded with a trip to the RNLI shop.
During his visit, the High Sheriff expressed his gratitude to the Newhaven RNLI volunteers for their unwavering dedication to lifesaving at sea. Roger Cohen MBE, Lifesaving Operations Manager, led the visit, while the training and assessments were managed by Second Coxswain Lee Blacknell and Mechanic/Navigator Nick Gentry.
