00:25 – Sussex Police update on the A21

23:00 Sussex TW advise Avoid travelling on the A21 north of Hastings

21:55 A21 Hurst green school are opening up for people stranded to go and warm up.

21:30 Gatwick Update – passengers travelling this evening and tomorrow are advised to check their flight status with the airline – and also local travel conditions – before departing for the airport.

Gatwick temporarily closed its runway at 1755 due to un-forecast snow. The airport’s snow clearing teams were in place and reopened the runway again at 2000 after ensuring that conditions were safe to do so.

We are currently receiving a large amount of messages/calls from people who are trying to arrange transport in the bad weather Sussex is experiencing.

If you work for a NHS Trust or other Emergency Service / Category 1 or 2 organisation please contact your emergency planning team who have access to our services directly and will be able to arrange transport where needed.

We CAN NOT accept requests for help directly via Facebook or other social media.

Please drive safely out there and ensure you are taking all relevant precautions when making your journey.

20:30 Gatwick Airport have said “Sunday 11/ Monday 12 December: Snow and freezing weather may cause disruption at the airport.  Passengers are advised to check flight status with their airline – and also local travel conditions – before departing for the airport.”
