Early Morning Arson in Worthing Leads to Arrest

In the early hours of Sunday (10 December), emergency services responded to a car fire on Ringmer Road in Worthing. The fire, which began around 4.50 am, not only engulfed the vehicle but also began spreading to a nearby house. Thankfully, the house was unoccupied at the time.

Responding, police officers arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of committing arson with potential danger to life. He is currently being held in police custody.

Investigating Supervisor Perry Humphreys provided an update, stating, “Our team will maintain a presence in the area as the investigation progresses. Currently, we are not pursuing any additional suspects, and we believe there is no further risk to the public.”

The police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activities or possess relevant CCTV or doorbell camera footage from around the time of the incident. If you have any information, please reach out to the police online or by calling 101, referencing serial 195 of 10/12.
