Police appeal for information after hit-and-run incident in Hove, 69-year-old arrested

Sussex Roads Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and any relevant footage relating to a recent hit-and-run incident in Goldstone Crescent, Hove. The episode took place between 7.20pm and 7.30pm, leaving at least one vehicle severely damaged.

A conscientious bystander flagged down officers after noticing a vehicle hastily departing the scene of a collision. Responding to the call, the police managed to stop a suspect vehicle in close proximity to the incident’s location.

The driver, a 69-year-old woman from Lancing, was subsequently arrested under suspicion of failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, failing to stop when directed by a police officer, and failing to stop after a road traffic accident. The woman has since been released on bail while further enquiries are conducted into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As part of their ongoing investigations, the police are keen to identify owners of other vehicles in the area which might have sustained damage during the incident.

Officers are urging anyone with information relating to this incident to report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 1898 of 09/06. Authorities believe that additional witnesses or video footage could play a pivotal role in helping to establish the sequence of events that led up to the collision.
