Fundraiser launched for four children after parents found dead in Newhaven

In an outpouring of community support following a heartbreaking tragedy, a fundraiser has been launched for the four children of Chloe and Josh Bashford, a loving couple who were found dead in their Newhaven home on June 9th, 2023.

Chloe, 30, and Josh, 33, were remembered by their family as “incredible and loving parents” to their four young children Brooklyn, Ava, Mila, and Joshua. The family is now reaching out to the community, asking for any support they can provide to help these children, who have tragically been left without a mother and father.

The grief-stricken family said, “We are asking for anything you can do to support the children so we can get them everything they need and can continue to give them the best life that we know Chloe and Josh would have given them.” Donations of all sizes are being accepted, with the family emphasizing that sharing the fundraiser page to reach more people is equally important.

Authorities discovered the bodies of Chloe and Josh at their Lewes Road home shortly after 7pm on Friday 9 June.

Suspect Derek Martin, also known as Derek Glenn, 64, of Moulsecoomb Way, Brighton, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection with the incident. Martin has been remanded in custody and appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 12 June.

Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, assured that their investigation is ongoing but they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the matter. DCI Edey further commented: “I’d like to thank the public for their understanding and remind them not to speculate or comment on anything which could jeopardise our investigation in the meantime.”

In a poignant tribute, the family said, “Rest in Peace Chloe and Josh, you will always be so loved and never forgotten.”

At the time of writing the fundraiser has raised £18,754, far surpassing the original goal of £2000 despite the campaign only being live for one day, with over 894 donors contributing.

Further information about the fundraiser can be found at Funds for Chloe and Josh’s 4 children.
